They might live next door to you, down the street, go to your church or school or be a member of your unit. If you know a great family, the Fires Center of Excellence and Fort Sill would like to know about them.

Fort Sill is looking for families who contribute to the growth of their community and instill teamwork as they nurture and strengthen their families, said J.D. Famoly, Army Volunteer Corps coordinator.

"All types of families are eligible," he said. "Whether dual or single parent, we are looking for families who best promote individual growth of its members, family teamwork and service to others."

All nominations must be digitally submitted by close of business Sept. 30. Individuals, units, agencies and organizations may nominate families. Famoly suggested people get their nominations in early.

In addition to bulleted information listing the attributes and selfless service of the family, nominators may also include a one-page essay in 1,000 words or less explaining why their nominated family should be Family of the Year.

"November is the month of the Military Family, and the Family of the Year recognition ceremony will be the highlight of the month long celebration," said Famoly. "It's important to take the time to recognize those exceptional families.

Nomination forms, in-structions and sample nominations can be found at www.sillmwr.com (www.sillmwr.com/soldier-family-programs-2/army-volunteer-corps/).

The award ceremony is Nov. 13 at 4 p.m. at the Patriot Club. For more information about the nomination process, call Famoly at 580-442-4916/4682.

"FMWR thanks our commercial sponsors who enhance our celebration of Fort Sill families with their support of this event," said Famoly. Sponsors include USA Discounters, Fort Sill Federal Credit Union and Corvias Military Living.
