Human resources award program nomination period begins

WIESBADEN, Germany -- U.S. Army Europe commanders will have until Nov. 14 to nominate their top performing human resources personnel for the annual Frederick E. Vollrath Human Resources Award for Excellence.

The program was developed to focus on human resources achievement. Retired Lt. Gen. Frederick E. Vollrath is an example of achievement in the human resources field. He served his entire 35-year career in the adjutant general field and was only the second adjutant general officer to be promoted to lieutenant general.

The six award categories are:

• Junior officers: second lieutenants through captains

• Junior warrant officers: warrant officers through chief warrant officers three

• Noncommissioned officers: corporal through sergeants first class

• Junior enlisted: privates through specialists

• Civilians: GS-09 and below and Non Appropriated Fund (NAF) equivalents

• Senior civilians: GS-10 to GS-15 and NAF equivalents

All nominees should include in their packet:

• 8 by 10 inches head/shoulder photo

• Officer Record Brief/Enlisted Record Brief/Civilian Record Brief

• Commander's Verification Memo

• Battalion Commander/Civilian Equivalent or higher Nomination Memo

• Narrative from Senior Adjutant General on Post or higher headquarters

• Military nominees must include: Army Physical Fitness Test scorecard and Weapons Qualification Card

In addition, all nominees must submit the following narratives for their category:

• Commissioned and warrant officers: A narrative by the nominee demonstrating their understanding of Lt. Gen Timothy J. Maude's contributions to the Army, his values, and how they seek to emulate him

• Enlisted Soldiers: A narrative by the nominee demonstrating their understanding of Sgt. Maj. Larry L. Strickland's contributions to the Army, his values, and how they seek to emulate him

• Civilians: A narrative by the nominee showing examples of how or she demonstrated achievement in Army human resources. Senior Civilians must also submit their last performance evaluation.
