Staff Sgt. Jeremy J. Kinney

Contracting Noncommissioned Officer

928th Contingency Contracting Battalion

Grafenwoehr, Germany

Describe your current position:

Currently I'm working in the 928th CCBn Plans and Operations Cell. I am responsible for the coordination of all mandatory and contract-specific training for military, Department of the Army civilians and local nationals. I also answer taskers from higher headquarters, assist in all coordination and planning for 11 exercises and five real-world missions in Turkey, Georgia and in the Baltic region. I assist in all personnel functions within the battalion to include personnel status reporting, leave tracking, schools packet submissions and more.

Describe your professional background:

I graduated Mission Airmen Ready Contracting Apprentice course July 20 and have just recently applied for Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act Level I accreditation. I am currently working toward a bachelor's degree in business management and I expect to be finished in 2015.

Tell us more:

I was born and raised in West Plains, Missouri, but I call Clarksville, Tennessee, my home. I am currently married to Sarah Kinney and have one daughter, Hannah. I also have two dogs, Mabel and Bella, which think they run the house. In my spare time, I enjoy woodworking and golfing.

How does your job support the Soldier:

Being in the position that I am in, it allows me to look at a larger picture other than just the day-to-day contracting mission. I understand that the contracts being executed not only serve the warfighter but the families and the communities in which they reside.
