CAMP HUMPHREYS -- The American Red Cross Summer Youth Program conducted a "Prepare and Share" kit drive, Aug. 6, at the Humphreys Main Exchange.
The event is an activity in which essential preparedness items are collected, assembled, and packaged to be given to the community as start-up items in the event of a Noncombatant Evacuation Operation (NEO) bag is needed.
NEO bags are essential in emergency events where people are forced to move quickly without being forewarned. A prepared NEO bag can make all the difference when evacuees make it to their safe haven.
The youth put on this event to expose the community to the importance of being prepared.
"Preparedness is very important when it comes to unforeseen disasters or events," said Ebony Bradley, the Humphreys American Red Cross station manager. "You want to ensure that you and your loved ones are well equipped in cases of the unexpected. The American Red Cross mission is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors."
She also added, "I would like to thank everyone that came out and donated; your generosity is appreciated."
