For as long as he can remember, Lt. Col. Doug Lowrey said he always wanted to be a Soldier.

Twenty years later, not only is Lowrey a Soldier, he'll soon be promoted to the rank of colonel.

The new Army Contracting Command Deputy Chief of Staff, Operations G-3/5, Lowrey is no stranger to the command. Prior to joining ACC he was the commander of the 901st Contingency Contracting Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas.

Since entering the acquisition community in 2003, he has bounced between assignments with the Expeditionary Contracting Command and ACC.

"I was chosen to be a contracting officer while attending the Naval Postgraduate School," said the Claremore, Oklahoma, native. "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in it. "

Lowrey, husband to his wife of 17 years, Dena and a father of two, spends his free time coaching kids' soccer and staying in shape. He does it while keeping a low profile and an open mind.

"I am actually very shy and quiet. Listening to other people's views is amazing and a very perishable skill," he said.
