"For the strength of the wolf is the pack and the strength of the pack is the wolf," -Rudyard Kipling.

That quote is the mantra of 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Arctic Wolves. Maj. Gen. Michael Shields, U.S. Army Alaska commanding general, told the audience that Col. Brian Reed will forever be a part of the Arctic Wolf legacy during a change of command ceremony June 19th where Reed transferred command authority to Col. Donn H. Hill.

"Arctic Wolves, serving as your commander has been the greatest privilege of my career," said Reed.

Reed served as 1/25 SBCT commanding officer for two years before relinquishing his command to Hill during the ceremony on Fort Wainwright, Alaska June 19, 2014.

Hill thanked Reed and his family for a warm welcome.

"This transition of command is a credit to the Arctic Wolves and representative of your loyalty to the legacy of this brigade," said Hill.

Hill comes to Alaska from the Army War College and recently Fort Benning, Ga., where he was the deputy commanding officer of the 75th Ranger Regiment. Under Hill's command, the 1/25 SBCT will continue to prepare for a capstone training exercise at the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, Calif. in January.

Outgoing Commander Col. Brian Reed is scheduled to move to Tampa, Florida, and serve as the Director of the Commander's Action's Group at U.S. Central Command.
