Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command honored 15 government shippers for outstanding performance with the Defense Transportation System throughout 2013.

"Shipper" refers to any government/vendor office or organization that books and moves cargo through the Defense Transportation System, and the award recognizes organizations who consistently submit on-time and error-free data.

Awardees in the Small Shipper category are Defense Security Cooperation Agency, Albany Ga.; Naval Munitions Command Detachment Earle, Colts Neck, N.J.; and Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, Independence, Mo.

In the Medium Shipper category, awards were presented to Joint Military Postal Activity -- East Region, Jersey City, N.J.; Defense Contract Management Agency Detroit Team, Warren, Mich.; Coastal Pacific Food Distribution, Dallas, Texas; and Joint Military Postal Activity --West Region, Chicago, Ill.

In the Large Shipper category, awardees are Konoike Pacific, Dallas, Texas; Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Norfolk, Va.; and Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Susquehanna, Pa.

In the Super Large Shipper category, awardees are Defense Commissary Agency West Area Office McClellan, Calif.; Defense Commissary Agency Headquarters, Fort Lee, Va.; and Dan Daniel Distribution Center, Newport News, Va.

In the Shipper of Merit Category, awardees are Transportation Division, Logistics Readiness Center, Fort Drum, N.Y.; and Defense Contract Management Agency Detroit Team, Warren, Mich.

SDDC provides global surface deployment and distribution services to meet the nation's objectives and deploys and sustains about 90 percent of Department of Defense equipment and supplies by leveraging the capability of commercial industry and other military services.
