"I'm extremely proud of AMC's efforts in providing warfighters across DoD with equipment faster, of better quality and at a lower cost. AMC won four Shingo Awards in 2006, 12 in 2007 and now six for 2008. This history of exceptional performance recognizes the men and women in our outstanding work force who are directly responsible for these improvements," said Gen. Benjamin S. Griffin, AMC commanding general. "These awards are also an affirmation of the best business practices AMC has integrated into the Army's industrial base. It's all about improving our support to the Soldier in the field."

Several AMC organizations have been recipients of the Shingo Award over the last few years - Letterkenny Army Depot has won five since 2005, Red River Army Depot has won seven since 2006, Tobyhanna Army Depot has won four, Rock Island Arsenal Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center has won three, Anniston Army Depot won two in 2007, Corpus Christi Army Depot won one in 2007 and Fort Rucker's Aviation Center Logistics Command has won one - a grand total of 23 for AMC.

The awards will be presented during the 4th Annual Public Sector Shingo Prize ceremony at the Crystal Gateway Marriott, Arlington, Va., Oct. 9.

The U.S. Army Materiel Command is the Army's premier provider of materiel readiness - technology, acquisition support, materiel development, logistics, power projection and sustainment - to the total force, across the spectrum of joint military operations. If a Soldier shoots it, drives it, flies it, wears it or eats it AMC provides it.
