YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea (May 9, 2014) -- A cavalry sergeant will represent U.S. Forces Korea at the Quicken Loans 400 NASCAR race at the Michigan International Speedway on June 15.
Sgt. Sean K. Brady, a fire support specialist with the Apache Troop of the 4th Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, was picked to go to the Father's Day race because of his love of racing and his performance as a Soldier.
A native of Mesquite, Texas, Brady joined in the Army in 2008. During a deployment to Afghanistan in 2010, Brady called in 500 indirect fire missions and directed rotary and fixed wing aircraft allowing U.S. forces to dominate the Pech River Valley of Kunar Province.
According to the Apache Troop commander, Brady also effectively synchronized helicopters, artillery and mortars during a recent air-ground integration exercise in South Korea.
"Sergeant Brady is among the finest non-commissioned officers I have served with in my career," said Capt. Timothy J. Goodman, commander of Apache Troop, 4th Squadron, 7th Cavalry, in his recommendation letter. "Brady performs his duties as a fire support specialist with the competence, character and commitment of a current and future leader in our Army."
