WIESBADEN, Germany - U.S. Army Europe and the Georgian Armed Forces are hosting senior noncommissioned officers from approximately 30 nations during the eighth annual Conference of European Armies for Noncommissioned Officers here starting May 20.
The three-day conference, led by Georgian Armed Forces Sergeant Major Aluda Kopaliani and USAREUR Command Sgt. Maj. David S. Davenport, is one of USAREUR's premier theater security cooperation events, and brings together senior NCOs from ground forces across Europe, Eurasia and North America.
"The purpose of the conference is to encourage the development of professional armies throughout the European land forces and build relationships between the European armies and senior NCOs," Davenport explained during last year's conference, held in Copenhagen, Denmark. "We are focused on the further progression of the development and success of professional noncommissioned officer corps in European and Eurasian land forces. The conference achieves that objective by engaging senior NCOs in frank and open discussions on military matters of mutual interest."
This year's conference will focus on noncommissioned officers' roles and responsibilities in future security challenges.
Attendees generally hold the top enlisted positions in their nations' land forces. The conference allows for discussion on matters of mutual interest and the opportunity to establish and maintain personal and professional relationships between counterparts.
