The TRICARE Service Center may be gone but Beneficiary Services is still here to help
May 7, 2014
FORT GORDON, Ga. -- When the TRICARE Service Center at the Eisenhower Army Medical Center was closed, many beneficiaries didn't realize that the Beneficiary Services Office is still open to help them.
The new Defense Health Agency directed that on April, 1, 2014, the TRICARE Service Centers at all Military Treatment Facilities will be closed to walk-in services for beneficiaries.
"This meant that all services currently provided by Humana at the TSC, such as enrollment, Primary Care Manager change requests and network authorization change requests, are now available to beneficiaries through the Humana Military 1-800-444-5445 number or on-line at www.humana-military.com, said Keith Sickafoose, Chief of the Managed Care Division at Eisenhower Army Medical Center.
Vanessa Calloway, Chief of Beneficiary Services said that, "What many people didn't realize is that the Division of Managed Care and Beneficiary Services are located next to where the walk-in TSC was and we are often confused with TRICARE in the services we provide."
Beneficiary Services is comprised of beneficiary counselors and debt collection assistance personnel and works as a liaison between the beneficiaries and the staff of EAMC and civilian health care providers outside the medical center.
Some of the services they provide to the beneficiaries include assistance with network referrals and authorizations, Soldier processing, TRICARE Plus applications; TRICARE Prime, Standard and TRICARE For Life claims, the TRICARE Prime Travel benefits and help with durable medical equipment requests.
Additionally, the beneficiary Services provides briefings on TRICARE Prime and Standard, TRICARE For Life, MET Life, Delta dental, the TRICARE Pharmacy program, direct care benefits and OB services to better help beneficiaries understand their benefits.
"Navigating your health care options and benefits are difficult, but we are available to help you make sense of it all," said Calloway.
