JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas (May 6, 2014) -- Mission and Installation Contracting Command officials at Fort Carson, Colorado, are conducting an Acquisition Forecast Open House May 27 from 9 a.m. to noon at McMahon Auditorium.

Registration for the event begins at 8 a.m. that morning at the auditorium, located at 1591 McDonald Street in Bldg. 1571, and is open to all small-business and industry representatives.

"Working in unison with our supported activities and customers to identify forecasted requirements, this forum will allow us and our customers to present upcoming business opportunities during the open house and answer questions at the end of the event," said Capt. Jerrick Hunter, an operations officer with the 918th Contingency Contracting Battalion at Fort Carson.

Contracting officials are also working with Colorado Procurement Technical Assistance Center partners in engaging small businesses to attend the open house. Hunter anticipates between 150 and 200 vendors from the local business community to participate, promoting networking and information sharing opportunities.

"Feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive, and local small businesses are excited about participating in this opportunity," he said. "This event will also provide an opportunity for businesses to learn government procurement processes and forge relationships and partnerships for future business endeavors."

MICC-Fort Carson officials plan to continue conducting acquisition forums in the future to keep customers and small businesses engaged and informed about potential upcoming contracting opportunities at Fort Carson. Continuous engagement with small-business representatives also ensures contracts are awarded in each of the following small business categories:

- Small disadvantaged business,

- Service-disabled veteran-owned small business,

- Woman-owned small business, and

- Historically underutilized business zone small business.

"The MICC has a steady performance history of meeting or exceeding all small-business program goals," Hunter said. "To help meet program goals, this Acquisition Forecast Open House will allow us to expand our industry base of capable small-business contractors while maximizing opportunities to all small businesses."

The MICC-Fort Carson is responsible for providing contracting support for the warfighter at Army commands, installations and activities located throughout the United States. In fiscal 2013, the contracting office executed more than 1,070 contract actions worth almost $120 million across the Army. The office also managed more than 22,000 Government Purchase Card Program transactions in fiscal 2013 valued at an additional $14.5 million.
