The Army Contracting Command-New Jersey and the Project Manager, Maneuver Ammunition Systems hosted a second High and Low Velocity 40mm Target Practice Day/Night/Thermal Industry Day.

According to Eric Wagner, group manager, Maneuver Ammunition Center, ACC-NJ, the purpose of the gathering April 15-16 in Rockaway, N.J., was to provide updated information regarding the planned acquisition of engineering and manufacturing development and production of the cartridges.

"Seventeen companies attended the industry day briefing April 15," Wagner said. "The government also held 10 one-on-one sessions with interested contractors on April 16. These rounds will give the war fighters the ability to train as they fight with 40mm grenade ammunition during both day and night and achieve proficiency and combat readiness."

Wagner said that for more than 15 years, night vision and thermal sights have opened the door for Soldiers to own the night in combat. However, current low-velocity 40mm training ammunition has not made this evolution.
