JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas (April 30, 2014) -- Officials from the Mission and Installation Contracting Command-Fort Bliss, Texas, office are holding an acquisition open house for the El Paso small-business community May 15 at Fort Bliss.

The Fort Bliss Acquisition Forecast Open House gives El Paso small-business representatives an opportunity to hear what post organizations anticipate their requirements will be for the near future.

Following registration, which starts at 8 a.m., the forum will begin at 9 a.m. at Sage Hall on Fort Bliss and runs to approximately noon. The forum is free and open to the public and is part of the MICC's mission to make the acquisition process transparent for military installations and America's small businesses.

The forum is hosted by Brig. Gen. Jeff Gabbert, the MICC commanding general. Leading the MICC-Fort Bliss team is Lt. Col. Joel Greer, who will introduce his contracting staff to those in attendance.

Fort Bliss organizations slated to provide their funded and unfunded anticipated requirements are the 1st Armored Division, 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command, Joint Task Force North, U.S. Army Sergeants Major Academy, William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Logistics Readiness Center, Department of Public Works, and others. Maj. Gen. Sean MacFarland, the 1st AD commanding general, is also scheduled to address the forum.

Home to the 1st AD and 32nd AAMDC, Fort Bliss is the second-largest installation in the Army with 30,000 Soldiers and their families assigned to the post. In fiscal 2013, the MICC-Fort Bliss obligated more than $150 million on more than 2,000 contracting actions for the installation.
