SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii - Soldiers, family members and well-wishers from

the 8th Theater Sustainment Command held a Change of Responsibility ceremony

bidding farewell to Command Sgt. Maj. Nathan J. Hunt III, today, as he

relinquished responsibility as the command sergeant major of the 8th TSC to

Command Sgt. Maj. Charles M. Tobin, here on Hamilton Field.

During his time with the command, Hunt's accomplishments were many

highlighted by the establishment of an impressive Sgt. Audie Murphy Club

program, an outstanding focus on noncommissioned officer profession

development, safety driven focus of the motorcycle mentorship rides, and

highlighting the command's best and brightest Soldiers through the Best

Warrior Competitions, said Maj. Gen. Stephen R. Lyons, commanding general of

the 8th TSC.

"He always accomplishes the mission, protects the force, and grows our

future," said Lyons of Hunt. "He is the epitome of calm, competence,

character and professionalism. No matter the circumstance, I can always

depend on Nathan Hunt as a friend, battle buddy, and most importantly, a

leader of Soldiers."

The day was not only a time for remembrance, but also a time of warm

receptions to Tobin and his family.

"I am always amazed at the impressive Army machine that can stack

back-to-back leader talent in our most critical positions," Lyons said.

"[Tobin] has taken on all of the tough jobs at the tactical and operational

levels and has excelled at every one of them."

The ceremony concluded with Tobin taking control of the formation, retiring

the colors, and commenting on his bio.

"I'm not a big fan of the bio," said Tobin, originally from Samoa. "Because

it is not about what I've done in the past, but what I do from this point

forward. I'm here to take care of Soldiers, DA civilians, contractors and

family members. Thank you for this opportunity."

The 8th TSC is the senior Army logistics command in the Pacific, responsible

for logistics and supply for land operations throughout the theater,

employing 167 different skill sets, with 35 unique capabilities, to include

Military Police, Explosive Ordnance Disposal, Army Watercraft, Dive and

Engineer operations.
