Pacific Regional Medical Command (PRMC) honored the winners of it's Best Warrior Competition during a ceremony at Tripler Army Medical Center on April 25, 2014.
Seven Soldiers from Japan, Korea, Schofield Barracks, and Tripler Army Medical Center competed against each other for the title of Best Warrior.
In the weeklong competition beginning April 21, non-commissioned officers and junior enlisted Soldiers participated in events such as an oral board, written test, a mystery event, qualifying on the Engagement Skills Trainer (EST), an obstacle course, day and night land navigation, and Army Warrior Task training.
This year's mystery event required the servicemembers to properly put together the dress uniform of the opposite gender.
The servicemembers started each day of the competition early with either a physical or mental challenge and had to work through weather conditions, tough terrain, and stress in order to distinguish themselves as the best of the best.
Athough the competition required a tremendous amount of endurance on the part of the competitors, participants say it was worth the effort.
"It was a big event and I had a great time while doing it. I met a lot of great people and I would gladly do it again next year," said PRMC Best Warrior competitor, Sgt. Christopher Mitchell.
PRMC competition officials say that although the entire group worked hard and did their best, there could only be one winner from the noncommissioned officers and junior enlisted Soldiers categories.
This year's winners, both from Schofield Barracks Health Clinic, Hawaii, were Sgt. Christopher Mitchell and Spc. Anthony Geckeler.
These two winners will move on to compete in the MEDCOM level Best Warrior Competition that begins May 5, 2014.
"It was a whole bunch of healthy competition, it was challenging and grueling but overall I thoroughly enjoyed participating and I learned a lot about myself and I know the others did as well," said junior enlisted PRMC Best Warrior competition winner, Spc. Anthony Geckeler.
The following is a list of the Soldiers who competed in this week long competition: Pfc. Mitchell Alwin (MEDDAC-K), Spc. Anthony Geckeler (USAHC-SB), Spc. Sarah Hull (MEDDAC-J), Spc. Richard Williams (TAMC), Sgt. Andrew Condon (TAMC), Sgt. Christopher Mitchell (USAHC-SB), Staff Sgt. Darnel Washington (MEDDAC-J).
