CHICAGO -- The Chicago Cubs recognized Sgt. 1st Class Miguel Uriostegui, 85th Support Command Human Resources Sergeant, during an Easter Sunday home game vs. the Cincinnati Reds at Wrigley Field on Apr. 20.

Uriostegui was honored with an opportunity to throw in the first pitch at the game and later received a standing ovation from the crowd of more than 27,000 spectators, while taking the field, during the middle of the fourth inning.

"It's fantastic. I'm just glad that I'm here this Easter Sunday. My family is able to be here with me, and it is just a great experience," said Uriostegui.

Uriostegui was recognized for his 11 years of service, including five mobilizations and one combat deployment in support of Operation Enduring Freedom to Afghanistan in 2013.

Uriostegui was also recognized for his awards and decorations to include a Bronze Star Medal, and the German Armed Forces Badge for Military Proficiency.

Uriostegui is a native of Elgin, Illinois and assigned to the 85th Support Command in Arlington Heights, Ill., 25 miles northwest of Chicago.
