April 15, 2014
ANSBACH, Germany (April 16, 2014) -- U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach hosted the Imagination Movers April 10. The group played to an overflowing venue on Katterbach Army Airfield.
The Imagination Movers, a musical group committed to teaching children about healthy snacks, manners, and having fun, were formed in New Orleans by longtime friends and neighbors Rich Collins, Scott "Smitty" Smith, Scott Durbin and Dave Poche in 2003. Kyle Melancon is touring with them as their drummer.
Before the show the Imagination Movers met with Lt. Col. David Markiewicz, the USAG Ansbach Executive Officer. After a short chat, Markiewicz presented the command with an Imagination Movers challenge coin. They also presented Lt. Col. Markiewicz with an official Imagination Movers hat, which he wore while introducing the group before the show.
After playing to a packed hangar of screaming children (and adults) Markiewicz and the 12th Combat Avation Brigade executive officer, Maj. Stephen Schmidt, presented the Imagination Movers with a commemorative plaque and presented each one of the Imagination Movers with a 12th CAB challenge coin to thank them for the wonderful performance, which, according to Markiewicz, made a difference in the lives of the USAG Ansbach community.
