Maj. Gen. Michael J. Terry, commanding general of the TACOM Life Cycle Management Command visited Rock Island Arsenal Joint Manufacturing and Technology Center on Thursday to bid farewell to the Arsenal employees before his change of command in June in Warren, Mich.
"I am very proud of the work you do here," Terry remarked. "There have been a lot of challenges with a decreasing spending over the past two years and it took a lot of moral courage to change your business to be responsive. You really picked up the ball and demonstrated success with some very challenging programs. I can truly sense a culture shift."
Terry started his day with office calls with senior arsenal management.
"General Terry has been a staunch advocate and a true friend to the Arsenal," remarked Col. David J. Luders, commander of RIA-JMTC. "We could be in a very different position right now if it would have not been for his leadership and guidance."
Terry has been in command of TACOM LCMC since June 2012. During his command at TACOM LCMC he has visited the RIA-JMTC numerous times.
"Every time I come back here I fall more in love with the Quad City Area," remarked Terry as he discussed his morning run along the banks of the Mississippi River.
After receiving a command update briefing, Terry met with a cross section of RIA-JMTC employees at lunch. Here employees were able to have an open dialogue about topics of concern in the TACOM LCMC.
Terry toured the 1.5 million sq. ft facility greeting and saying good-bye to employees along his tour route.
"I want to thank you all for the outstanding job you have done not only supporting TACOM LCMC, but the Soldier, Sailor, Airman and Marine that is in uniform," Terry said.
