Fort Belvoir, Va. (April 10, 2014) - Ten Fort Belvoir Warrior Transition Battalion Soldiers developed their skills with an air rifle target shooting clinic April 1 at Outdoor Recreation's Archery Range.

The clinic, sponsored by Steve Smutak, Fort Belvoir WTB adaptive sports director, and the Fort Belvoir Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, provided participants with an opportunity to learn weapon handling, loading and shooting techniques and to fire at arrays of small targets downrange.

Air rifle target shooting is one of many adaptive sports Belvoir offers to wounded, injured and ill servicemembers all year, including sitting volleyball, wheelchair basketball, adaptive scuba diving and swimming, kayaking, archery, weight training and fishing. Many WTB athletes will train in one or more of these sports throughout the year with the aim of qualifying for the team representing the U.S. Army at the annual Warrior Games in Colorado Springs, Colo.
