PICATINNY ARSENAL, N.J. (April 4, 2014) -- Col. Gregory Dewitt, director of the U.S. Army Capabilities, Development and Integration Directorate, U.S. Army Fires Center of Excellence, looks at the .50 caliber Advanced Remote Robotic Armament System prototype during his tour of Picatinny Arsenal on April 2.

Dewitt examined ARAS while at Picatinny's Col. John M. McHugh Armament Integration Facility with U.S. Army Armament Research and Development Center Director of Technology, Joe Pelino, also shown.

While at Picatinny, Dewitt received several briefings on ARDEC technologies and also visited the Fire Control Integration Lab and the Intelligent Systems Branch Lab.

ARCIC is "the think tank for the Army," according to its website. "We look at the future, determine the threats the Army will face and the missions it will receive, and come up with the operational concepts required to organize its structures and the capabilities needed to drive its programs."

ABOUT ARMAMENT RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT AND ENGINEERING CENTER

ARDEC is part of the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command, which has the mission to develop technology and engineering solutions for America's Soldiers.

RDECOM is a major subordinate command of the U.S. Army Materiel Command. AMC is the Army's premier provider of materiel readiness -- technology, acquisition support, materiel development, logistics power projection, and sustainment -- to the total force, across the spectrum of joint military operations. If a Soldier shoots it, drives it, flies it, wears it, eats it or communicates with it, AMC provides it.
