CW5 Leroy Shamburger (Right) presents a token of appreciation on behalf of USAMPS to Colonel Klemen Medja, general staff of Slovenian Armed Forces, for their hospitality and willingness to share ideas.

The 5th MP Bn (CID), Kaiserslautern, Germany and the U.S. Army Military Police School formed and lead a Mobile Training Team (MTT) with the military Police of Slovenia from 24-28 February 2014.

The Military Police of Slovenia requested U.S. partnership through their U.S. Embassy?'s Office of Defense Cooperation prompted the MTT and forged a partnership that allowed both nations to share ideas and foster strong relationships. Throughout the partnership training event, members of both militaries shared ideas and compared their manner of law enforcement, criminal investigations, and combat support.

The U.S. members of the event gave informational classes on the unique reporting structure of CID as well as its operational control of all outlying subordinate units. While the organization of CID shares similarities with the Slovenian Special Unit of Military Police, members of both nations noted differences in capabilities.

Much of the training this special unit requires is taught by Slovenian civilian police training authorities; however, there are opportunities for both the U.S. the Slovenians to enhance skills through partnership activities.

Other discussion topics during the event included CID support to war-fighting in a deployed environment, hostage negotiations, protective service missions, and drug operations. These discussions were well received by the Slovenian Military Police and were summed up by Slovenia MP Captain Kosmac noting, he ?"hopeed our organizations will continue with this kind of cooperation in the future.
