OSAN AB, South Korea -- The senior leaders of Team Osan came together to pledge their support to the fight against sexual assault and sexual harassment at the Base Exchange here, April 4.

Brig. Gen. Russell Mack, vice commander of 7th Air Force, Col. Thomas Nguyen, commander of the 35th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, Col. Brook Leonard, commander of the 51st Fighter Wing and Col. Joseph Gleichenhaus, commander of the 3rd Battlefield Coordination Detachment - Korea, called upon service members to take a stand against sexual crimes.

"Each of us needs to show the moral courage to do the right thing and speak up when someone is not living up to our core military values," said Nguyen.

Spc. Claishele Brown, a human resource specialist with Battery C, 6th Battalion, 52nd ADA Regiment, was on hand to witness the proclamation signing.

"It was an important event," said Brown. "It showed me that my leadership cares and understands that [sexual assault] is a problem."

The Department of Defense has designated April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month. This year's theme is, "Live Our Values: Step up to Stop Sexual Assault."

There are several events planned for April to raise awareness and promote the prevention of sexual violence.

"Sexual assault is unacceptable anywhere," Brown said. "Especially in the Army."
