NUERNBERG, Germany (April 2, 2014) -- After hosting the Nürnberg-based Bayerische Bereitschafts Polizei, or Bavarian Quick Reaction Police Force, at their Oberdachstetten training area, the U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach Command Team and Director of Emergency Services (DES) were invited to the Polizei's training compound on the outskirts of Nürnberg March 28, 2014.

The Bayerische Bereitschafts Polizei are a specially trained unit that on request react and respond to incidents that range from riots and crowd disturbances to search and recovery. They are trained to respond to incidents on land, air and water.

Col. Christopher M. Benson, Command Sgt. Maj. Mark A. Kiefer, Lt. Col. David A. Markiewicz, and the DES A. R. Brown were given a briefing and tour of the compound by Polizeihauptkommissar (Chief Police Inspector) Michael Kern and Klaus Rettlinger.

At the end of the tour the Bavarian Quick Reaction Police Force commander, Leitender Polizeidirektor (Chief Police Director) Werner Sussmann met with Col. Benson and they discussed the similarities of German and U.S. military police forces and pledged to work and train together now and in the future.
