CAMP HENRY, Korea--19th Expeditionary Sustainment Command, "Team 19" held its quarterly Army Civilian award ceremony, March 21 at the 19th ESC headquarters, Camp Henry, Korea.

In Korea, the civilian workforce, both American and Korean, have served the United States Forces Korea since 1953. Since then, civilians supporting the Republic of Korea and U.S. alliance in concert with uniformed services have provided a comforting level of continuity, matched with a high degree of professionalism and technical expertise.

Brig. Gen. Stephen E. Farmen, 19th ESC commanding general was host and keynote speaker that recognized Civilian employees that are integral to everyday success in several different categories.

"I can't say thank you enough for everything each of you bring to our organization to make it what it is with the responsibilities given to you daily. You have immensely superseded my expectations," said Farmen.

During the ceremony, Team 19 honored 11 Army Civilians.

Russell Wall, Office of the Inspector General, was awarded the Korean Civilian Service Medal.

"It is important that we get recognition for what we do because it shows that someone cared about the hard work and long hours [that] I put into assisting the command, Soldiers, retired personnel, family members and sister services," said Wall. "As members of the Armed Forces we are told that Noncommissioned officers are the back bone of the Army but when I crossed over to be a Civilian I learned that the Civilian is the whole body."

As the individual accomplishment of every Civilian was read aloud, each of them were recognized for the experience they bring, the foundation they have continued to develop and continuity that strengthens the unit.

Yong S. Chung, assigned to the 19th ESC G-6 Information Assurance Team said she feels honored to be chosen to receive an award and took a moment to thank everyone in G6 for being a part of the team.

"This recognition is motivation for me to keep challenging myself and I will continue to do my best to perform my daily duties."

At the close of the ceremony, after Farmen presented each Civilian with their award he said, "I am blown away after what I just heard, it's an absolute honor and a privilege to serve with each of you and I couldn't be more proud to be your commanding general."
