NEW YORK (March 17, 2014) --The U.S. Army Military District of Washington participated in the 253rd St. Patrick's Day Parade.
Prior to the start if the parade, Maj. Gen. Jeffery S. Buchannan, MDW commanding general, gave the oath of enlistment to 36 U.S. Army 'Future Soldiers.'
The Future Soldier training system helps to mentally, physically, and emotionally prepare an individual for the rigors of Initial Entry Training and the transition from civilian life to becoming a U.S. Army Soldier.
Military units participating in the parade were The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own" Ceremonial Band; The U.S. Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps and a marching platoon from the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) from Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall, Va.
