LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - To generate more interest in Little Rock District's contracting processes and requirements, the district hosted an Industry Day Dec. 3 at the Arkansas State Library in Little Rock.
The purpose of Industry Day was to conduct market research at a programmatic level to help the district establish acquisition plans for fiscal year 2014. It also was an opportunity to network with local businesses and bolster interest in the contracting process.
"I'm sure most of you are familiar with what we do," said Little Rock District Commander Col. Courtney W. Paul addressing the representatives of 40 area businesses. "But let's be clear, we can't do anything without a strong contracting base."
Corps officials told Industry Day attendees that the Little Rock District will have 55 projected contracts that will need to be filled during the fiscal year. District contracting representatives were able to meet one-on-one with company representatives during the event. Contractors also had the opportunity to ask questions and to present their capabilities during breakout sessions.
In one of the break-out sessions, Greers Ferry Deputy Operations Project Manager Bennie Rorie lauded the benefits of attending Industry Day, "If you're here, you get a firsthand look at the work we're offering this year."
