VILSECK, Germany -- Are you ready to work here in U.S. Army Garrison Bavaria?

Preparing for the job search can be daunting for the uninitiated, but fortunately help is available.

The Employment Readiness Program at Army Community Service is offering a free class to help Soldiers, spouses and civilians prepare for finding and keeping gainful employment. The Ready for Work class supports those at any transitional career point including ETS, retirement and career change.

Ready for Work is offering an array of activities to help jobseekers lay the groundwork for finding a job. Resume preparation is an integral step, but finding jobs, understanding the needs of a potential employer, networking with future prospective employers, the application process and interviewing are all aspects of the job search process.

Preparedness is the cornerstone of the Ready for Work class. Looking the part, handling stress and cultivating speaking skills are essential for any Soldier, spouse or civilian in the job search.

The event will include presentations from community agencies, guest speakers offering advice, demonstrations and giveaways. The class will touch on everything from how to dress for success to overcoming stress while looking for employment.

Representatives from Bavarian Community and Spouses Club, ACS, Financial Readiness Program and Army Career and Alumni Program will be available to answer questions specific to those job environments.

Military and Family Life Consultants will guide jobseekers through the various stages of the job-hunting process and provide stress management techniques for interviews.

Professional cosmologists will give makeovers and barbers and stylists will offer free hair cutting and styling. Fashion consultants will address tying ties and building, refining and maintaining a business wardrobe.

Participants will have the opportunity to receive complimentary gifts from the community agencies and professional consultants. Giveaways will include business suits and business clothes, gift certificates and more!
