GRAFENWOEHR, Germany -- The Bavaria Military Community is encouraged to complete a survey launched by the Public Health Command that aims to better understand the needs of the community.

"If those opinions are expressed, if the community has a forum to speak their mind, then we have an opportunity to make changes," said Jennifer Williams, health promotion officer for the BMC.

The survey takes about 10 minutes and spans the full spectrum of wellness with focus on readiness and resiliency. The five pillars of health -- family, physical, emotional, spiritual and social -- are all discussed with questions ranging from the safety of neighborhoods to the variety of healthy foods offered at the commissary.

"It comes down to if the needs of the community are being met fully," said Williams. "The focus is on health promotion but that encompasses nearly all aspects of life."

After the survey ends in late March, the Community Health Promotion Council will meet with the garrison and create working groups to address the concerns of the community.

And while Williams said they couldn't solve everything, action will take place.

"We now have over a 100 classes at our fitness centers, and that is a direct result of the community expressing an interest in a variety of classes as well as times of these classes," said Williams. "This is just one example, but the community has a voice, and we can make changes to better suite their needs."

The survey runs until the end of March and can be found at http://go.usa.gov/Z7D9.
