ANSBACH, Germany (March 7, 2014) -- Fifty-nine local national and U.S. employees were honored during a Length of Service ceremony for more than 1,745 years of "loyalty, honor and distinction" to the U.S. Army, today, at the Von Steuben Community Center.

Expressing his appreciation to the honorees, Col. Christopher M. Benson, commander of U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach said, "You have demonstrated a deep interest in the welfare of this community. You have dedicated your talents and knowledge to make this a place where Soldiers choose to be stationed and where families enjoy living."

Your commitment to duty and to making USAG Ansbach the best hometown in Europe is very much appreciated, Benson said.

Referring to the recent government shutdown, furlough and the pending closure mission, Benson said that despite of change and challenges in the past, "the one thing the U.S. Army could always count on was and is your loyalty and your dedication to the mission and to the customers we serve."

Benson was joined by Deputy Garrison Commander Kevin L. Griess and Command Sergeant Major Mark A. Kiefer, in the presentation of LOS certificates to USAG Ansbach employees, marking the milestones of 20, 25, 30, 35, 40 and 45 years of service to the U.S. military.

The Vice President of Middle Franconia Dr. Eugen Ehmann, joined the USAG Ansbach leadership on stage, awarding the Bavarian Certificate of Honor, signed by Bavarian Minister of State for Labor and Social Affairs, Emilie Müller, for 25 and 40 years of service respectively.

Ansbach's Mayor Thomas Deffner and USAG Ansbach Works Council Chairperson Suzie Pabler also thanked honorees for their longtime dedication to service.
