Staff Sgt. Frank-Ray Perez
412th Contracting Support Brigade's 904th Contingency Contracting Battalion contract specialist, Mission and Installation Contracting Command-Fort Knox, Ky.
Describe your current position:
I am assigned to the contracts division working simplified acquisition procedures for the Mission and Installation Contracting Command-Fort Knox, Ky. My additional duties include being the battalion logistics NCO in charge of maintaining 100 percent accountability and serviceability of the battalion's sensitive items and equipment.
Describe your passion for the job:
I have been working contracting for three years, and I absolutely love what I am doing, especially working alongside civilian contracting professionals. Working with them has given me the greatest opportunity to learn and instill the wealth of contracting knowledge while saving taxpayer dollars and supporting warfighters. I will always continue to provide my utmost support in achieving the very best for our future warfighters.
Where do you call home; do you have a family?
I was born and raised in the tropical island of Guam. I joined the Army at 17, and I actually saw snow for the first time during Basic Combat Training at Fort Jackson, S.C. I am happily married to my beautiful wife. She has supported me throughout my military career, and I am truly thankful for that. We both love the outdoor life, sharing lasting memories, especially having barbecues with friends and family.
How does your job support the Soldier?
Being a part of one of the largest MICC offices, we support major organizations at Fort Knox to include the Human Resources Command, Army Cadet Command, Army Recruiting Command, Military Entrance Processing Command and Fort Knox garrison to name a few. I procure a variety of commodities and services that are needed to provide and sustain the needs of Soldiers so that they are fully capable of winning the fight. This is done by communicating with our customers in defining their requirements to know exactly what is needed in the battlefield. Even though I am a contract professional, I will never forget I am a Soldier and a leader.
What would you like others to know about you?
I am a dedicated Soldier, always focused on the mission. I strive to learn new things every day as a Soldier and contract professional. I am a team player and get along with everyone. My personal and Army values are built around respect. I like to seek out demanding positions of greater responsibility because it will only prepare me to become a more knowledgeable and effective leader in today's Army. I am proud to be a noncommissioned officer.
