USAG YONGSAN, South Korea -- Representatives of 1st Signal Brigade including Brigade Commander, Col. Paul H. Fredenburgh III, Command Sgt. Maj. Darris Curry and Chief Warrant Officer 4 Roy Rucker, Command Chief Warrant Officer, conducted a battlefield circulation during the 2014 Key Resolve exercise on Feb 24. in Seoul, South Korea.
The representatives first visited the Republic of Korea Special Forces Command Korea, located in the Songpa District in Seoul, where U.S. Soldiers and the ROK Army Soldiers were working together to conduct the joint exercise.
After a short breakfast, Maj. Rett B. Burroughs, director of joint communications for Special Operations Command-Korea, and Capt. Donald K. Colemon, joint communications operations officer, SOCKOR, provided a tour of the joint signal operations center and introduced their ROK Army counterparts.
"We are running our joint operations with our ROKA alliance partners to enable real-time command by both U.S. Army and ROKA primarily through Centrix-K," said Burroughs. "As you can see in this operation center, we are working tirelessly to maintain effective communication between the two commands throughout the exercise."
Following the tour of the exercise site in SOCKOR, the command group went on to visit the 362nd Signal Company, 41st Signal Battalion based at K-16 Air Base, Sungnam City.
Capt. Austin R. Minter, commander, 362nd Signal Company, provided an overview of the company's mission and functions throughout the exercise.
"We have four Soldiers and 26 civilians as a team to maintain over a thousand manholes across Area II including Yongsan and K-16," said Minter. "The Korean nationals have been really instrumental in carrying out our outside plant maintenance work."
Fredenburgh expressed his appreciation to the unit leaders for dedication to their missions in providing signal /cable support and said that 1st Signal Brigade will provide the necessary means and support to bring their missions to a successful conclusion.
