HOHENFELS, Germany -- Hohenfels kicked-off Military Saves Week with cake and prizes in the Exchange foyer here, Feb. 24.

"Military Saves Week is not just a yearly program, it's for every day," said Donna Gotel, Financial Readiness Program manager. "It's about looking toward the future, and saving that money for when you need it."

Soldiers and civilians were encouraged to take the Military Saves Pledge to cement their commitment to saving. Participants receive a digital newsletter with inspirational saver stories, plus articles and tips on reaching their financial goals.

Representatives from Community Bank and Service Credit Union were on hand with information and advice on savings and banking services while personal financial counselor Sonja Mathis discussed investments, retirement, and creating a budget.

Mathis will be at Army Community Service all week for private appointments as well as offering classes on topics such as credit and credit repair, understanding your TSP, and saving for college.

For help with beginning a plan for your financial future contact the Financial Readiness representative at your local ACS. Hohenfels: 466-4860; Tower Barracks: 475-8371; Rose Barracks: 476-2650; Garmisch: 440-3777.
