Fort Bragg recognizes two units with environmental compliance awards

FORT BRAGG, N.C. - The 37th Engineer Battalion and 7th Special Forces Group were recognized by the Directorate of Public Works' Environmental Division for their outstanding compliance with environmental regulations during the third quarter of fiscal year 2008.

The two units were nominated by the Compliance Assessment Team based on the results of their respective semi-annual courtesy inspections.

To be eligible for the quarterly award, units must have demonstrated 100 percent compliance with inspections and turned in their Environmental Compliance Status Report on time in the past fiscal quarter.

In addition to receiving unit plaques, Environmental Compliance Officers Chief Warrant Officer 4 Tomas Madrigal of the 37th Engineer Battalion and Chief Warrant Officer 3 Benjamin Stecker of the 7th Special Forces Group were presented DPW coins by deputy garrison commander Doug Earle.

The 7th SFG environmental compliance assistant Master Sgt. Brian K. Mainor, who is currently deployed, was presented a coin in absentia.

Additionally, Spc. Angelica Solero of the 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade was recognized for her commitment to ensuring a high standard was met for quality of living in the barracks she supervises. Her proactive and creative efforts to maintain and improve buildings H5448, H5214 and H5812 were observed during a recent barracks inspection.
