SCHWEINFURT, Germany (Feb. 14, 2014) -- Hello everybody, my name is Max Kidd. I'm a filmmaker, and I'm about to shoot an official movie about the U.S. Army in Schweinfurt called "The American Way of Schweinfurt."

I have the film team, the concept, and the approval from the U.S. Army and the city of Schweinfurt. Now I just need a little help. Specifically, we need the following:

• Active-duty Soldiers (male and female) going to go back to the U.S. who are familiar with Schweinfurt's leisure activities, nightlife and restaurants

• An active-duty Soldier who is still serving, or has been serving, but who is getting out of the Army and staying in Schweinfurt as civilian

• An active-duty Soldier who has served a long time in Schweinfurt

• An American family who would be willing to be accompanied by our film team for one day in daily life (e.g. living in the housing area, going shopping, playing with the children, barbecuing with neighbors, and more)

• Someone involved with the coordination of the closure of the garrison

• German employees working for the U.S. Army

• Germans who deal with the Army on a regular basis, such as a "Bratwurst delivery guy"

• Someone intimately involved with German-American activities and friendship

• Americans who cultivate a friendship with other German families or friends

• We also seek videos and pictures of their time in Schweinfurt no matter what year. Great stuff would be footage of an old soap box derby, a square dance, Christmas or other holidays at any of the garrison's installations.

If anybody is interested in helping us, either behind or in front of the camera, please contact us via email at kidd@y-concepts.de.

SYNOPSIS

The U.S. Army is scheduled to officially leave Schweinfurt by September of 2014. We want to shoot an entertaining documentary about this special time. It is a non-political movie that will compare the clichés and stereotypes with the reality. Our aim is to give future generations an impression of what it was like living together in one city, getting to know each other and saying goodbye to each other.

To get a look on both sides -- the German and the American -- we need help from the Army to give our movie an accurate portrayal. What we want to film are the daily habits of Americans and Germans, where they meet and where their worlds differ. I want to see and film Americans and Germans and document their memories -- what they hope never to forget and perhaps what they wish to forget as soon as possible -- such as German sauerkraut!

The film will be made for the people who lived in the German-American community and for those who are interested in getting to know it. The movie will also explain why the U.S. Army was stationed in Schweinfurt and what changed when some parts of the world were engaged in war with American troops on the front lines.

The aim of the film is to create the connection from past and present. The film will explore the realities of war and its consequences but also demonstrate what Schweinfurt gained and what it will lose because of the Americans.

To learn about our other productions, we also did a film for the city of Schweinfurt, which you can see in the "Related Links" section under "Schweinfurt Movie." Or watch our Bad Kissingen movie at "Bad Kissingen Movie" in the "Related Links" section.
