ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, Ill. -- Once a quarter, the Army Sustainment Command recognizes its civilian and military employees for hard work and productivity. Twenty-four individuals were presented plaques and other tokens of appreciation at a ceremony in Heritage Hall at Rock Island Arsenal, Ill., Feb. 6.

Col. (Promotable) Daniel Mitchell, deputy commanding officer of ASC, and his operations sergeant major, Sgt. Maj. Douglas Martin, presided over the ceremony.

"These ceremonies are important for us because it gives us time to stop our busy day and recognize excellence," said Mitchell. "We do have an important mission. We are AMC's face to the field. We are the operational arm of the Army Materiel Command."

Recognized with the Commanding General's Award for Excellence were:

Randall Beckmann, movement specialist

Robert Coffey, acting director of ASC Logistics Assistance Program

Shiela Elkins, logistics management specialist

Stephanie Henry, logistics management specialist

Jody Hesse, security specialist

Chief Warrant Officer 3 Hyung (Eric) Kim, senior supply technician

Carroll Mathews, chief of military strength management

Daniel Neumiller, Altus Positioning System-3 program management team lead

Rene Robinson, information technology specialist

Joseph Ryan, intelligence chief

"Being nominated is quite an honor," said Ryan. "It means your supervisor thinks enough of you to put your work in front of the eyes of the general."

Recognized for 35 years of service to the United States of America were:

Mark Border, information technology specialist

Elizabeth Jensen, financial management analyst

Teresa Morrison, lead materiel integrator for chemical and biological equipment

Theresa Thoren, budget analyst

"It means quite a bit to me to work 35 years for the United States Army," said Border. "It means I've been able to support the warfighter across a number of missions over the years; my goal always being that they have what they need and return home alive."

Recognized for 30 years of service was Mark Lovejoy, deputy director for information management.

Col. William Krahling, commander, Distribution Management Command, was recognized as a distinguished member of the Quartermaster Regiment. This award honors selected individuals who have made "distinguished contributions to the Quartermaster Corps," and who, "will assist in fostering Regimental pride and esprit, heritage and tradition."

Capt. Clifton Vincent, workload branch officer-in-charge, was presented the Ordnance Order of Samuel Sharpe. According to the U.S. Army Ordnance Association official website, "the purpose of the Ordnance Order of Samuel Sharpe is to recognize those individuals who have served the United States Ordnance Corps with demonstrated integrity, moral character and professional competence over a sustained period of time. And whose selfless contributions to the Corps stand out in the eyes of their seniors, peers and subordinates alike."

Recognized with the Hi Pro Award for exceptionally high productivity and quality in their work performance by peers were:

Chief Warrant Officer 4 Russell Campbell, food program manager

Ann Fennelly, program specialist

Jan Linnberg, logistics management specialist

Linda Ottman, family support programs specialist

Bonnie Seals, public affairs presentation specialist

Lisa Theisen, program specialist team leader

Lloyd Trowers, logistics management specialist

"Thirty six years I've been here (Rock Island Arsenal), and I'm very surprised," said Seals. "It's an honor."
