Two from DTA Win Awards at Army Photo Contest

DETROIT ARSENAL, Mich. -- Two members of the Detroit Arsenal landed awards recently in the 2013 Digital Photo Contest.

Jessica Fuller of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Programs and Services?' Child Youth and School Services (CYS) received a 1st place award in Military Life with ?"Intently She Watches" and Darin Pemberton of the garrison?'s Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security received an Honorable Mention Award, for his image he took while walking through an antique store near Saugatuck, MI.

The 2013 Army Digital Photo Contest recently came to a close with more than 3,200 entries submitted form Army Soldiers, Families, Retirees and Civilians.

Categories for the contest included People, Military Life, Nature and Landscapes, Animals, Still Life, Design Elements, and Digital Darkroom.

Robert Vogt, Acting Chef for Recreation?'s Soldier and Community noted that ?"the entries came from all over -- Army Garrisons and deployed Soldiers."

Fuller commented that her winning entry was captured early one morning as her husband was going through the motions doing what most soldiers do every morning… shaving. ?"To me, this is military life, said Fuller. ?"A soldier trying to get a few extra minutes with his baby girl before heading out the door."

Fuller, who works for CYS?' Parent Central Services, added that ?"the look on my daughter's face was so intent as she watched her daddy go through his morning routine," Jessica said.

Fuller is extremely excited and humbled to be selected ?"considering all the wonderful and beautiful pictures submitted from all around the world."

?"The three phones captured my attention and I took a knee to gain the perspective I wanted, and snapped the frame," said Pemberton. ?"I am pleased to be recognized and to have that image awarded Honorable Mention is encouraging - especially for my first try in a photo contest."

The U.S. Army Central Region had 13 overall winners: four 1st place;

one 2nd place; one 3rd place and seven honorable mention.

Winners will receive signed certificates as well as checks.
