The Detroit Arsenal exceeded its monetary contribution target for this year's Combined Federal Campaign raising more than $369,000 to support eligible non-profit organizations that provide services throughout the world.

"I am thrilled to announce that we not only met our goal of $350,000 we exceeded it by nearly $20,000 raising a total of $369,970.92," said Lisa Klebba, this year's CFC chairperson. "I want to thank all the zone coordinators for taking the time to share the importance of this program and help us make our goal."

This year's CFC was extended through Jan. 15 due to the late start of the campaign due to the government shutdown.

The mission of the CFC is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient, and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all. CFC is the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, with almost 200 CFC campaigns throughout the country and overseas raising millions of dollars each year.

The largest number of contributions from the southeast Michigan area went to the following charities:

Michigan Humane Society - 323 pledges totaling $63,410.13

Gleaners Community Food Bank, Inc. - 240 pledges totaling $61,663.74

Forgotten Harvest, Inc. - 274 pledges totaling $54,508.24

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - 182 pledges totaling $45,027.76

American Red Cross - 186 pledges totaling $40,055.77

"I am proud of each of you who helped us make our goal this year," said Alan Parks, garrison manager. "Even with all of the challenges we faced this year you came through and showed the true giving spirit we possess here at the Detroit Arsenal."
