REDSTONE ARSENAL, Ala. -- One of the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command's military officers prepares for life after the uniform.

Lt. Col. Wilton Ransom, operations officer, SMDC's Technical Center, retired at the command's Redstone Arsenal headquarters Dec. 20.

During the ceremony, Ransom received the Legion of Merit, a certificate of appreciation, a three-star note, an American flag, and certificate of retirement and pin.

Ransom retires with more than 27 years of service.
