Command Sergeant Major Juan A. Abreu enlisted in the United States Army in 1990 and attended Basic Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and Advance Individual Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina. Upon completion, he was awarded the military Occupation Specialty of 92G, Food Service Specialist.

Throughout his career, he has served in every enlisted leadership position from Team Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Brigade Food Service Advisor, First Sergeant, Drill Sergeant, Senior Drill Sergeant, 1st Infantry Division Food Service Sergeant Major, 3rd Army Food Service Sergeant Major, and Command Sergeant Major 703rd Brigade Support Battalion.

He has served with the United States Army Central (Third Army), 82nd Airborne Division, 1st Infantry Division, 2nd Infantry Division, 3rd Infantry Division, and 4th Infantry Division.

Command Sergeant Major Abreu has attended numerous military schools and training courses including Airborne School, Air Assault School, Drill Sergeant School, Food Service Contracting Officer Representative Course, and Food Service Management Course. He is a graduate of the United States Army Sergeant Major Academy Class 59. He is continuing his pursuit in a Bachelor degree in Business and Management from Trident University.

His awards and decoration include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal , Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Department of State United States of America Meritorious Honor Award, Meritorious Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal, National Service Defense Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the NATO Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon.

He has earned the Drill Sergeant Identification Badge, the Parachute Badge, Air Assault Badge, and Driver Mechanic Badge-Driver Wheeled Vehicles. Additionally, he was awarded the Combat Action Badge, a recipient of the Distinguished Order of Saint Martin, the Honorable Order of Saint Barber, German Schutzenschnur-Bronze and a member of the prestigious Audie L. Murphy Award.
