Command Sergeant Major Ray C. Thornton is a native of Pineview, Georgia. He graduated from Wilcox County High School in June 1987. CSM Thornton enlisted into the U.S. Army on July 21, 1987 where he completed Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Lee, Va. There he successfully earned the Military Occupational Skill of 76V (92A), (Material Management Specialist).
