Lieutenant Colonel Edward D. Eldridge graduated from Virginia Tech in 1995 and received a commission as an Infantry Officer. After attending the Infantry Officer Basic Course, he was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized) where he served as a Rifle Platoon Leader and as a Company Executive Officer.

After completing the Special Forces Qualification Course in 2000, LTC Eldridge served with Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) as the Detachment Commander for Special Forces Operational Detachment - Alpha 735. Following command, he served as the Charlie Company Executive Officer and as the Assistant S3 for 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne). In 2003, LTC Eldridge was selected to attend the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA where he later graduated with a Masters degree in Defense Analysis.

Following Naval Postgraduate School in 2005, LTC Eldridge was assigned to Special Operations Command -- South in Homestead, FL. During this assignment, he served as a Joint Exercise Plans Officer, the Executive Officer to the Commanding General, SOCSOUTH, and finally as a Joint Special Activities Officer. In 2008, LTC Eldridge returned to 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) where he assumed command of Operations Company, 7th Special Force Group (Airborne). Following command, he served as the Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force-Afghanistan LNO to Combined Forces Special Operations Component Command- Afghanistan. Finally, he served as an Operations Officer for 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne). LTC Eldridge's most recent assignment was with the United States Army Special Forces Command (Airborne) where he served as the G3, Chief of Training Division and finally as the Deputy G3.

His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, and the Army Achievement Medal. He has also earned the Air Assault Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Military Freefall Badge, Combat Diver Badge, Ranger Tab, Special Forces Tab, and multiple foreign parachutist badges.
