Stay safe, be smart during holiday celebrations

FORT BENNING, Ga., (Dec. 18, 2013) -- All the best wishes to you and your Family for the holiday season. I hope that you have the opportunity to relax, have fun and celebrate with Family and friends.

Please be safe and look out for each other. We need each and every one of you to safely return to Fort Benning in January.

If you drink alcohol, have a designated driver. Safety Cab will provide free rides to civilians and Soldiers in the Columbus and Fort Benning area this month each night from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Call 706-660-6069 for a safe ride home.

If you are driving outside the Chattahoochee Valley area, plan ahead and ensure that you are well rested when driving. Be aware of possible inclement weather and increased traffic. All Soldiers traveling outside the Fort Benning and Chattahoochee Valley area must complete a Travel Risk Planning System (TRIPS) report, which can be found online at https://safety.army.mil.

Please take a moment this holiday season to remember our fellow Soldiers and civilians who are deployed overseas, especially those in combat in Afghanistan.

Thank you for your service to our nation, our Army, and your fellow Soldiers. Have fun, and be safe. Command Sgt. Maj. James Carabello and I look forward to seeing you in the New Year. One Force, One Fight!
