Dugway DES Donation to the 43rd Annual Festival of Trees

The tree Team DES had donated to the Festival of Trees this year sold for $1000.00 on opening night of the auction. The event hosts stated this was a great success especially since it was in the small tree category. As usual, all proceeds benefiting from the tree will go to Primary Children's Medical Center.

The members of the USAG Dugway Directorate of Emergency Services (DES) once

again participated in this year's "Festival of Trees" by creating a

beautifully decorated "Santa's Magical Carousel" inspired Christmas tree in

recognition to the hard working staff of Primary Children's Medical Center

and to all of the children that they have served. Several of the DES

employees and their family members come together each year to donate their

time, talents, and dollars to create a tree that reflects the hope and wish

for every young child in need of receiving the best medical care possible,

regardless of race, religion, or ability to pay.

For 43 years, the Festival of Trees has been a "Gift of Love" to children.

The Festival is organized by a volunteer board of 85 women who enlist time

and talents from thousands of individuals, organizations, businesses, and

families throughout Utah and beyond. The event features over 700

imaginatively decorated Christmas trees, wreathes, centerpieces, gingerbread

creations, backyard playhouses and quilts that are donated and then through

a silent auction, are sold to deck the halls of local businesses and homes

across the Wasatch Front with all proceeds going to Primary Children's

Medical Center. Over $33 million has been raised for children at Primary

Children's Medical Center through the Festival since 1971, with $1.8 million

dollars was raised in 2012.

Festival of Trees is open to people of all ages Wednesday through Saturday,

December 4 - 7, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. daily at the South Towne

Exposition Center, 9575 South State Street in Sandy Utah. Tickets are

available at the door for $5 - adults, $4 - senior citizens, $3.50 -

children (ages 2 - 11). Discount tickets are still available at many Zion's

Bank locations. The DES tree is located in section C327 of the expo center.

The DES Team has made this an annual tradition and are already collecting

donations for next year's tree. Anyone wishing to donate toward next year's

tree should contact the DES at 435 831-2050.
