NIJMEGEN, Netherlands (July 15-18, 2008) -- Army Maj. Doug LeVien, Staff Sgt. Jonathan Pierce, Sgt. William Anaab and Air Force Master Sgt. James Kagele celebrate their completion of the 92nd Annual Nijmegen International Four Days March. They participated as members of the U.S. delegation in NATO's Joint Force Command Brunssum Allied International marching team. They marched more than 40 kilometers daily, carrying more than 22 pounds of dead weight. During the march a wreath-laying ceremony was held July 17 at a Canadian World War II cemetery surrounded by the flags of NATO's 26 member nations. The march concluded July 18 with a parade through the center of Nijmegen as thousands of spectators cheered. The march is the largest of its' kind in the world. This year, more than 32,000 civilians and 6,000 military members from 30 countries participated.
