ARLINGTON, Va. (Nov. 22, 2013) -- The U.S. Army's Enterprise Management Decision Support program was recognized as the FedScoop 50 IT Program of the Year during a ceremony yesterday at the Hay-Adams Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Every year the FedScoop 50 Award honors 50 federal IT individuals and programs representing the community's "brightest minds and innovations." This year the Army's Enterprise Management Decision Support, or EMDS, was selected as the IT Program of the Year based upon cost savings, efficiencies and federal and industry partnerships.

The EMDS enterprise system, developed and managed by the Army's Deputy Chief of Staff G-3/5/7, provides Department of the Army leaders with access to critical disparate (classified and unclassified) readiness and resourcing information retrieved in near real-time from multiple databases to a single access point.

"Recognition as a FedScoop 50 winner is an immense honor for our team," said Lt. Col. Bobby Saxon, chief of the Enterprise Management Decision Support division. "I'm extremely proud of the team's effort to simplify data access and understanding through Big Data Visualization and Predictive Analytics."

This latest achievement was truly a team effort, Saxon said, adding that it would not have been possible without the support of industry partners and Army senior leaders.

This is the second program award EMDS has earned this year. In April, EMDS was recognized as with the 2013 Computerworld Honors Laureate Award in the Innovation category.

"We continue to channel our focus on developing the best data solution, despite fewer resources," said Chris Barnes, deputy chief of the Enterprise Management Decision Support division. "The team we have in place is truly dedicated to delivering excellence."

Receiving this award on behalf of the Army is truly an honor, Barnes said.

ABOUT EMDS

The Army Enterprise Management Decision Support (EMDS) system is a web-enabled, data-driven, dashboard system that retrieves disparate data from multiple data sources in near real-time. EMDS provides Army leaders access to critical information (unit readiness, personnel, equipment and training resources), for predictive readiness, resources planning and forecasting.
