SECKENHEIM, Germany - Col. John "Jack" Haley took command of the 405th Army Field Support Brigade from Col. Bobby Ray Pinkston in a military ceremony Aug. 5.
The ceremony was held at Hammonds Barracks in Seckenheim and was presided over by Maj. Gen. Robert Radin, commander of the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, Rock Island Arsenal, Ill.
During the ceremony, Radin praised Pinkston for his success as a brigade commander, citing the brigade\'s staff as the reason for that success and complimenting Pinkston for his leadership during his tenure.
Pinkston, as he bade farewell to his brigade and the gathered guests, said, "I have commanded four times in Europe, and every time I hear the German and U.S. national anthems played together, I reflect upon how much at both the professional and personal level how much service in the United States Army Europe has meant to me."
Pinkston also extended his welcome to Haley, stating, "I would like to extend a heartfelt welcome. I hope that you will find this job as rewarding as I did. I am confident the team will support you as much as it did me."
Haley took his time at the podium to pledge his leadership to the brigade and all U.S. Army Materiel Command and ASC organizations throughout the European theater of operations.
"What you can expect from me is my total, unwavering commitment and energy to mission success and the care and welfare of all members of the brigade - Soldier, civilian and contractor," he said. "And we will have a good time doing it."
Haley also took a moment to recognize his family for their dedicated support to him throughout his military career. "Most of all," he commented, "I would like to thank my own family: Jennifer, Mairin and Caoilinn for their love and support. This has been a challenging period: three moves in three years. Your flexibility and sense of adventure certainly not only made it possible but enjoyable as well."
Pinkston's next assignment will be at 7th Army in Heidelberg, Germany, and Haley joins the AMC family from Department of the Army as the maintenance division chief.
