ANSBACH, Germany (Nov. 14, 2013) -- Cold weather is arriving in the Franconia region of Germany. This can mean icy roads, kitchen fires, winter sports accidents, seasonal mood disorders, and hypothermia.

U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach's Safety Office held its Winter Safety Day Oct. 28 at Duggan Gym at Barton Barracks to educate garrison personnel on how to combat these potential problems. The event included training on winter driving, winterizing vehicles, fire extinguisher use, proper nutrition, cold weather acclimation, first aid, automated external defibrillator use, suicide prevention and hunting and skiing safety.
