The winner of this FY-13 BG Thomas F. Barr Award is the 595th Military Police Company (I/R), 508th Military Police Battalion (I/R), JBLM-WA. The mighty Spartans are led by CPT Adam Fulton and 1SG Jeffrey Hansen.
Winning the FY-13 BG Thomas F. Barr Award is a testament to the dedication and commitment of the Soldiers and Families of the 595th MP Co (I/R) over the past year. During the fiscal year, the phenomenal Officers, NCO and Soldiers of the Spartans lived up to the new 31E title of Corrections and Detention Specialists. The Spartans provided a trained and ready correctional force to the Northwestern Joint Regional Correctional Facility (NWJRCF), JBLM where they provided outstanding support and assisted with significant initiatives and accomplishments towards how corrections operations are conducted. They also sharpened and honed their Detention skills, not only through high payoff corrections tasks in the NWJRCF, but also through sustainment of their War-Fighting functions. Not only were the Spartans extremely successful as a unit, but numerous Soldiers were recognized for notable individual accomplishments as well. Of mention is the winner of the I Corps Soldier of the Year and 1st Runner-Up at the FORSCOM Competition came from the ranks of the Spartans.
Winning the BG Thomas F. Barr Award is a significant accomplishment that would not have been possible without the dedication of the entire Spartans team. Congratulations to the Officers, NCOs, Soldiers and families of the 595th MP Co (I/R) for this monumental achievement!
Congratulations also go out to this year's first runner up from the HHC, 40th MP Bn (I/R) and second runner up from the USACA-Europe.
The Evaluation Board considered unit nominations on the basis of mission performance, major accomplishments and significant achievements of the unit and members of the unit from1 October 2012 through 30 September 2013. Choosing the best among the impressive nominations submitted this year was not an easy task. Each unit who submitted a package should be proud of their organization's contributions to the Army Corrections Command, the Regiment and the U.S. Army over the past year.
