Army UH-60 Black Hawks and a CH-47 Chinook, one Marine CH-53 Sea Stallion and one civilian helicopter were airborne with water buckets after a hot spot flared up early Friday morning. Honolulu Fire Department and Federal Fire Department also fought the fire.

The burn area is on Army property and a portion of Dole propery in an area inaccessible to firefighters on the ground due to rugged terrain.

Army fire crews focused efforts on the perimeter to keep the blaze from spreading. So far, no threatened or endangered species have been affected.

The fire started Tuesday at a training range due to the rekindling of a fire in the same area that began Oct. 15 and was 100 percent contained Oct. 20.
